Welcome to the CrossPix home page. The CrossPix System is a project of Liberty Software.
CrossPix is an implementation of the type of puzzle that Games Magazine publishes under the name of "Paint by Numbers." This type of puzzle was invented by Tetsuya Nishio.
We offer CrossPix in two forms. The CrossPix Plugin is available for both Macintosh and Windows users. With the plugin installed you can solve puzzles right in your Netscape browser. The CrossPix Application System (currently only available for Macintosh) allows you to solve and create puzzles with a browser.
If you are familiar with this type of puzzle or are ready to dive in, then proceed to the download page and have fun! You may want to know about the emergency help feature.
If you would like to learn more about how to solve this style of puzzle then follow these instructions to solve a sample puzzle. Don't forget to check out the emergency help feature.
The CrossPix Application System (currently only available for Macintosh) includes a puzzle editor that allows you to create your own CrossPix puzzles for use with either the applicaton system or the plugins. If you send us puzzles that you create, Liberty Software will distribute your puzzles and give you credit, but alas, not money.
If you want to put puzzles, either your own creations or one of Liberty Software's please contact me about how to accomplish this.
Please send us your thoughts on CrossPix.
Games Magazine has created a book of these puzzles called "Games Magazine Presents Paint by Numbers." The book is published by Times Books and is, of course, available from Amazon. ISBN: 0812923847
The address for Games is:
Games Magazine 19 West 21st Street New York, NY 10010
